LOU RIGNEY : HEAD COACH
I grew up in Walnut Creek, swimming competitively for 14 years, from the age of 4 to 18. I started on a local recreational team, and finished up at De La Salle High School. After high school, I attended the University of Nevada at Reno, where I majored in Economics with a minor in Communications. It is during these years that I began instructing. First on the ski slopes of Mt. Rose and then on to the pool deck in the East Bay.
Since my first year of college, I have coached ten swim seasons – six of those as head coach. My most recent position as head coach was with the Terra Linda Orcas, where I spent 3 years. I have spent many years working with kids, including three summers running a kids sports camp that I started up in Terra Linda. Over the course of many swim seasons, I have developed my own coaching philosophy, which I feel caters best to those in the recreation swim league. This is my fourth year in the Marin Swim League, and I look forward to making it my best.
